Utilizing the theory of planned behavior to Prediction the puberty health behavior in female secondary school students in Khamir city during 2015-2016. rsj. 2017; 3 (1) :53-66

Background and Objectives: Conducted extensive research in the field of knowledge, Type of attitude and behavior on Puberty health and efforts to promote it, In fact, investment to achieve personal and social health. The purpose of this study was to predict the puberty health behaviour in female secondary school students based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB) in Khamir city.

Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional study was conducted among 120 female secondary school students. Sampling was random sampling.  The data were collected by a questionnaire including demographic characteristics and a questionnaire based on the TPB constructs. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS version 22 and t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and linear regression to predict the behavior in a significant level of p<0.05.

Results: About 85.8% of students were moderately aware about this period. Also, the majority of students (81.7%) produced a moderate performance in their adulthood. Multiple regression analyses revealed that attitude could predict the intention for puberty health behaviour. Furthermore, behavioral intention and knowledge predicted puberty health behaviours.

Conclusion: Based on the results, the behavioral intention and knowledge predicted the puberty health behaviours. Therefor in designing puberty education interventions aiming at increasing health behaviors in this group, it is better to put more emphasis on strategies to promote behavioral intention and knowledge students.
