Background & Objectives: Hospitals, as centers providing medical services, are always faced with various crises such as unexpected events, epidemics, and emergencies. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between crisis management and operating room productivity in Farhikhtegan Hospital in Tehran. These hospitals were chosen based on criteria such as a high annual volume of surgeries, advanced crisis management infrastructure, and prior experience in handling large-scale crises. In this study, operating room productivity was assessed using indicators such as patient satisfaction, the number of surgeries performed, the K index (which represents the number of surgeries performed within a specific time frame relative to operating room capacity), and the performance of operating room and anesthesia specialists.
Materials & Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was conducted using a survey method. Data were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire, and Spearman correlation tests were used for data analysis.
Results: The results indicated that all dimensions of crisis management (prevention, response, preparedness, and recovery) had a positive and significant relationship with operating room productivity, as reflected in patient satisfaction, the number of surgeries performed, the K index, and the performance of operating room and anesthesia specialists (r=0.414, sig=0.000).
Conclusion: This study highlights the significant impact of crisis management on improving operating room productivity and emphasizes the need for comprehensive crisis management planning in hospitals.
