Background & Objectives: Media networks, especially radio media, can play a major role in the orientation of the people of the society and encouraging them to sports activities and then improving public health. The purpose of this study was to analyze the quality of sports radio network programs with an emphasis on the levels of active sports participation in the society.
Materials & Methods: This research was descriptive and content analysis. The statistical population was Iran's sports radio network, whose programs broadcasted between From April 21 to May 21, 2023 were selected as a sample and purposefully.
Results: 2 main themes, 8 sub-themes and 148 codes were obtained from the examination of a total of 35 programs. The main themes included "dimensions of sports participation" and "functional dimensions of sports media". "News", "Entertainment", "Information" and "Criticism" related to the theme of "Functional dimensions of sports media" and "Heroic", "universal", "professional" and "educational" subthemes related to the theme of "dimensions of sports participation" were reported. In general, the results showed that sports radio network had the most coverage in the fields of entertainment-championship, news-championship and general entertainment.
Conclusion: Considering the coverage of sports radio network programs in the field of entertainment-championship and the significant restriction on the fields of education and criticism, it is necessary for experts and interested organizations to pay attention in the field of constructive management, optimization of resources and formulation of effective strategies for more efficient performance of sports media.
